Akwasi Opong-Fosu is a former Minister of State and Public Policy Analyst, Office of the President of Ghana. He’s taken everything he’s known in the political and governance arenas and moved them into a consultancy called Africa Growth Solutions. His solutions involve inspiring youth to become job creators as opposed to job seekers and moving that level of entrepreneurship into centers of innovation. Big projects are on the horizon, but these are aimed at massive impact. He spoke with Frontrunners Innovate Producer, Mary Kurek, and Co-Host, Ambassador Ghazala Khan about his work and vision.

Akwasi’s Short Bio:

The Honorable Akwasi Opong-Fosu is the Founder of Africa Global Emergence Center (AGEC), a policy, research, advocacy, and advisory services organization seeking to promote Africa’s economic growth and transformation agenda. He heads the Africa Growth Solutions which provides advisory services on behalf of AGEC.

As an Africa growth advocate, Hon Opong-Fosu has addressed international forums such as the UN, Rainbow PUSH Wall Street Economic Forum, Crans Montana Forum, and Marrakech Security Forum among others, on leadership, governance, peace and security, entrepreneurship, trade and investment, climate change, and sustainable development.

Hon Opong-Fosu has held public offices in Ghana as a technocrat, heading the largest public sector organization; the Local Government Service. And, as a politician, he served as a Mayor, Member of Parliament, Minister of State for Local Government; Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation.
