Aditi Banerjee Shares Poem in Support of Ukrainian Refugees

In Art and Culture, Empowerment, Publisher Channel by Mary Kurek

Frontrunners Innovate Producer and Host, Mary Kurek, gathered together a group of Frontrunners to discuss ways to help promote wellness for Ukrainian refugees and those displaced in the country. Nataliia Karpenko (Ukrainian-born, living in the US) Ambassador Ghazala Khan (currently living in Saudi Arabia), and Miss Aditi Banerjee (UK), as well as Kurek, took a break during the conversation for Aditi (a young spoken word artist) to perform her poem entitled “We Live in the Margins.”  Her offering so perfectly captures the spirit of emotion for this specific conversation.

Our pleasure to bring Aditi Banerjee to the Frontrunners platform for this performance. (Note:  Featured compilation image is provided by Aditi Banerjee.)

We live in the margins by Aditi Banerjee

Home is origami unfolding itself into instability.
This creased paper plane crashes in an unfamiliar language.
We are Jenga pieces on the brink of toppling into foreign land.
The borders are torn by bombs that fall like rain.
The tears taste like the channel water she drowned in.
I dry my eyes with tissue and the paper melts.
We live in the margins of the page
after the displacement.
Our lives are made of rough edges and ripped paper.
